"Nellie listened to our needs, offered ideas and discussed new approaches. She always found time to be available for us. She has a natural, calm, supportive nature that helped my daughter relax, progress and feel included. Nellie's contributions supported our family and enhanced my daughter's quality of life." "Nellie really helped me to realize my goals in my own community. She is a kind and gentle person who is also very practical. One example of how Nellie helped me is that I have always wanted to be a mechanic. Over a number of years, Nellie found people to teach me skills for repairing bicycles and helped me get the appropriate tools, as well as bicycles to repair and sell. I love every minute of doing that work and people often contact me directly when they have a bike that can be fixed up for re-sale." |

"Nellie has been an invaluable resource to our family. Since our daughter was little, Nellie not only offered support, but assisted us with concrete planning, problem solving and goal setting, always keeping the vision alive for our daughter. She has done this with insight, caring, optimism and an empowering belief in the rights and potential of people with special needs. thanks to Nellie, that vision is now reality as Jade is living a life happy and included in her community." ~ Katrine Palmer, mother |
